SSVP St. Bernard Conference supports the communities of Bowness, Greenwood, Montgomery, St. Andrews Heights, Parkdale, and Green Briar.
In recent years SSVP St. Bernard’s conference faced a growing demand for food hampers with dwindling donations. The conference tried to optimize their resources and continue to support the community in best way possible. They focused solely on providing food hampers with food donations through food drives, supplemented their food hampers with Cobb’s bread and some groceries from an Easter Food Drive at St. Francis High School. The conference provides 40-60 hampers per month.
In May of 2024 the conference made an appeal to St Michael’s conference and St Peter’s Conference requesting a monthly support to keep them for closing their doors in October of 2024.
St. Michael’s conference has pledged their continued support like in the past for the next few months to help St. Bernard to continue the work of helping and meeting the basic need of food in their community. St Michael’s Conference also extends support to St Bernard’s Conference by including 30 families in need, each year in the Christmas Hamper program.
“I would like to mention again that having this extra help has made a world of difference in our ability to plan and provide for our clients. We no longer need to be thinking week to week if we can survive.”
We cannot THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH for your phenomenal preparation and devotion to this Annual Christmas Hamper Extravaganza! Your generosity is overwhelming and allows us to serve so beautifully and bountifully the marginalized in our community. Clearly, without your help we could not achieve anywhere near this level of support to our dear suffering people we serve. Furthermore, all of our deliverers are made to feel so welcome by anyone they encounter while picking up Christmas Hampers for delivery. Once again, the reactions of the dear families we are serving are absolutely HEARTWARMING. There are many tears of JOY shed upon receiving these magnificent hampers.
Finally, wishing all of the Vincentian TEAM at St. Michaels a BLESSED Christmastime and a Very Happy New Year in 2026.
